This Year's Numbers?
They're coming. Patrick and I have both been busy, both personally and getting the data ready. But expect regular season numbers up for the 2016-2017 NBA season soon. Also, I hate doing this to myself, but this year we should have game by game Points over Par numbers out as well. Figure I should give myself the incentive of public ridicule if I don't deliver on that!
The Boxscore Geek's Top 10
Last year I had a lot of fun doing a weekly column on the top ten boxscores of the past week (I went Monday through Sunday, and usually posted Monday morning). And this year, I'm bringing it back! If you see any good ones use the hashtag #BSGTop10 on Twitter, note em on our Facebook wall, or put em in the comments. As a note, I'm not looking just for the best box scores. I also like bad box scores (the 10th spot is almost always reserved for a dreadful game), as well as interesting ones. It's also worth noting that a 20-20 is usually a lock for the list. I will say that Anthony Davis' 50 point, 17 rebound, 7 steal, five assist, and 4 block game will be almost impossible to unseat from the #1 spot on next week's list.
What I'm Reading
As mentioned on last week's show, I just finished the amazing "Console Wars" by Blake J. Harris. If you're a fan of video game history, this is a must read. If you grew up during the Nintendo/Sega battles of the 90s, it's even cooler. Without too many spoilers on the specifics, Sega was like a team that managed to have their sites on Charles Barkley and John Stockton in the 1984 draft with #4 pick and missed them both! It's an awesome Audible pick up if that's how you like to read. It's also got me on a fix to listen to some old fashion "history" books so my planned itinerary is:
Pokemon GO Halloween Promotion
Late update! Can't believe I forgot this!
If you're a Pokemon GO fan, this week is awesome. For the next week, you'll get double candy for any Pokemon you catch or hatch from an egg. What's more, your buddy will generate candy four times as fast! Finally, a bunch of the ghost related Pokemon are now more common. This means fewer pidgies, at least this week. I finally got myself a Dragonite thanks to this myself!
I'm so glad the NBA season is back. We have plenty of regularly scheduled content now. So until then, enjoy the game!
