Reminder, last week I was a day late, so I included Monday, December 7th in last week's list. This week I'll be doing games from Tuesday, December 8th through Sunday, December 13th.
Welcome to the Top 10 Boxscore of the Week, a weekly segment on the Boxscore Geeks where we break down our favorite boxscores of the week. While we do use statistical criteria to guide our choices, this list is subjective. With that said, here's our list!
TIE #6 and #5 Steph Curry/Draymond Green - Dec. 11th
Steph Curry put up a thirty-eight point game. Of course, with a 57.3% True Shooting, this was a down scoring night for Curry. And yes, he did put eight assists and eleven rebounds, but he also turned the ball over eight times. It had some parts of a good game, but on its own didn't do it for me.
Draymond Green recorded a five by five (at least five in all of the positive stats. Of course, his shooting was only barely better than the 76ers, and he put up five fouls. I felt compelled to give the Warriors a spot on the list for this game, but it took two players to get it.
#4 Kobe Bryant - Dec. 12th
- 31 Minutes Played
- 16 Field Goal Attempts
- 3 Free Throw Attempts
- 25 Points, 72.2% True Shooting
- 7 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
- 6 Assists
- 0 Personal Fouls
- 3 Steals
- 0 Turnovers
- 0 Blocks
I've made a habit of highlighting Kobe's horrible games this season, and he's had quite a few. Turnaround is fair play. Kobe put up a pretty great game. Sadly, the Lakers have more than a few holes, and Kobe's heroics came up very short in a thirty point blowout to the Rockets.
#3 Klay Thompson - Dec. 8th
- 34 Minutes Played
- 21 Field Goal Attempts
- 3 Free Throw Attempts
- 39 Points, 87.4% True Shooting
- 7 Rebounds (1 Offensive)
- 6 Assists
- 2 Personal Fouls
- 3 Steals
- 4 Turnovers
- 1 Blocks
When the Warriors' win streak was in full force, a killer game out of Klay helped them put away the Pacers. Also, the Warriors became the only team in the last thirty seasons to have two players that have had multiple games where they hit ten or more threes. Sadly, Klay was injured and missed joining Curry as a forty-point streak extender. Regardless, it was an incredible overall performance given that he also put up high rebounds and assists.
#2 James Harden - Dev. 9th
- 40 Minutes Played
- 23 Field Goal Attempts
- 12 Free Throw Attempts
- 42 Points, 74.3% True Shooting
- 9 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
- 7 Assists
- 4 Personal Fouls
- 2 Steals
- 7 Turnovers
- 2 Blocks
Another star performance by James Harden. He has apparently remembered how to "score at will." Barring his turnovers, the rest of his game was rock solid too. I'm not quite ready to say Harden is 100% back (seeing as he has a 2-9 performance the game before this), but it is fair to say he's a lot closer to his old self than he was to start the season.
#1 Kevin Durant - Dec. 10th
- 37 Minutes Played
- 14 Field Goal Attempts
- 7 Free Throw Attempts
- 25 Points, 73.2% True Shooting
- 12 Rebounds (0 Offensive)
- 10 Assists
- 2 Personal Fouls
- 1 Steals
- 5 Turnovers
- 0 Blocks
With so many meh triple-doubles this week, Kevin Durant showed us how it's done. In a game where both Westbrook and Ibaka got legit double-doubles, Durant managed to play even more amazing. A healthy Durant makes the West all that more interesting. And the Thunder are apparently a nightly threat for a triple double.
That's our list! Did we miss someone? Are any players too high? Well don't worry, we'll be back next week with another one. If you see any boxscores you think deserve consideration, leave them in the comments or tweet at myself (@nerdnumbers), Patrick (@nbageek), or Brian (@boxscorebrian) with hashtag #BSGTop10.
